Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.
Last week Petula Clark's "Downtown" and the Carpenters' "(They Long to Be) Close to You" tied for the top spot, each receiving 34 votes out of the 192 cast. Simon & Garfunkel and Diana Ross also tied for fifth place, allowing them both to remain on the list. And this week they will all be challenged by Blondie, Culture Club and Barbra Streisand with the Academy Award-winning song from her 1973 film, The Way We Were.
